OPCW's Third Review Conference Underway

The OPCW's Third Review Conference of States Parties to review the operation of the Chemical Weapons Convention is underway.

The morning session has just ended where the conference was addressed by, among others, Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and OPCW D-G Ambassador Ahmet Üzümcü. Nicholas Robson, Chief Coordinator is attending April 8th to 14th. Mohammad Shakir Bachaa will be from April 10th to 18th.

In January 2012 the South Asian Strategic Stability Institute (SASSI), conducted a joint seminar in our offices in Islamabad, Pakistan, on “Multilateral Cooperation for Security: The Example of Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC)” in conjunction with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad, Department of International Relations QAU and Institute of Strategic Studies Research & Analysis (ISSRA), the National Defense University. The six speakers on the panel for the seminar were Dr. Maria Sultan, Dr. Zafar Nawaz Jaspal, Air Commodore® Khalid Banuri, His Excellency Ambassador Ahmet Uzumcu Director General OPCW, Dr Irfan Yusuf Shami and Brig. Muhammad Khurshid Khan. Director-General OPCW Ahmet Uzumcu, expressed his sincere gratitude to the Government of Pakistan for its invitation to visit Islamabad. #cwc3rc More
